First Presbyterian Church of Mount Gilead Fills Void With New Outreach Ministry
CONSIDER JOINING US!
In rural Morrow County, there is a serene and beautiful, socioeconomically diverse gated community with people from all walks of life. As a resident of that community, Pastor Christine Burns, CRE (now retired and serving in a presbytery-wide commission) was approached by a member of the board of trustees to see if she might be interested in having a summer worship program right there at our Unit 4 lodge. It seemed that a number of people were interested in worshiping before the start of their Sundays on the lake. Pastor Christine, sanctioned by the Mount Gilead Presbyterian, volunteered to see if this April to October worship might work. On April 30, 2023, the Wood Lake Ministry Outreach was formed to bring a casual and friendly worship to any resident or visitor to Candlewood. People dress casually and bring their coffee, ready to engage with the Word in a new yet traditional Christian service from 8 am to 8:45 am. While the entire service is voluntary, an offering basket is available, and any proceeds go directly to mission and evangelism for First Presbyterian Church of Mount Gilead. It is early, but it gives you the whole day to enjoy summer activities and allows Christine to serve the more local churches. Please consider joining us.
